Clay: USM Art Gallery, October 29-December 7,
Opening reception and Jurors Talk November 7,
5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Pushing Clay, perhaps the most significant
contemporary ceramics exhibit ever organized in Maine,
is part of a series of ceramic events organized by
Ray Chen and Carolyn Eyler as part of a comprehensive
mission to heighten the cultural, educational, and
intellectual awareness of international ceramic aesthetics
in New England. The exhibit opens in the Art Gallery
in Gorham Oct. 29 and runs through Dec. 7, 2002. The
opening reception and Jurors Talk by the three
jurors is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 7, 5:30-7:30

Sculpting in Relief: Creating a Personal Vocabulary,
Workshop by Carol Grant Nov. 8 and 9 on Gorham Campus.
Grants workshop will focus on creating a personal
vocabulary through sculpture in relief. The corresponding
slide talk is free and open to the public at 4 p.m.
on Thursday, Nov. 7 in Burnham Lounge, Robie Andrews
Hall on the Gorham campus. The workshop has limited
openings left and will take place in the ceramics
room in Robie Andrews on Friday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. For

Auditions: Lewiston-Auburn's Community Little
Theatre will hold auditions for the January production
of "Phantom" on October 26 at 10 am and
October 29 at 6:30 pm at the Great Falls Performing
Arts Center, Academy St., Auburn. Anyone with specific
questions about the requirements of the singing roles
may contact the Music Director at 784-8165. For more

paintings on display at the Gray Public Library, 5

Casco Bay Concert Band: "By Request," October
20, 3 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center, Gorham High
School, 45 Morrrill St., Gorham. Selections include
Nimrod from Enigma Variations, Gandalf from Lord of
the Rings, selections from Fiddler on the Roof, and
more. Admission is $7 for adults, Seniors $6, students,

and free parking.
Auditions: The Gray-New Gloucester Community
Theater will hold auditions on Thursday, October 17
at 6:30 at Grays First Congregational Parish
House, for its first production, the comedy, "Laffing
Room Only." The play has 10 adult roles. Auditions
will consist of a play reading and a short improvisation.

Play Opening: The Public Theatre seasons
opening play, "Art," will be performed on
Oct 11 with a run thorugh October 27. The New York
Times called the play, "the funniest play on
Broadway." For tickets and information call 782-3200.

Street, in downtown Lewiston.
Chamber Music: Cohen Chamber Music Series at
Hebron Academy: 2002-03 season: Friday, October 24
at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, February 15: 2003, and Saturday,
April 26, 2003, at the Androscoggin Theater, Sargent
Gym, Hebron Academy. Events are free.
