USM Honors Recital for USM's top student 2002 musicians: Seven finalists have been chosen for the 25th annual Honors Recital presented by the University of Southern Maine's School of Music. These student musicians, chosen by audition in front of a jury panel, are USM's very best. They are honored for excellence in solo performance and will perform one or two short works with accompaniment. The recital will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2002, in Corthell Concert Hall on the USM Gorham campus. Sponsored by Boise Cascade Office Products, this concert is free and open to the public. Photography Exhibit: "What Rocks Say: Western Landscapes and their Stories" by John G. Kelley, on display from April 1 to May 15 at Gilsland Farm Environmental Center, 20 Gilsland Farm Rd., Falmouth. A slide show accompanying the exhibition will be shown on Monday, April 29 at 7 p.m.

New Gloucester Historical Exhibit: New Gloucester Red Men and Pocahontas, at the New Gloucester Meetinghouse. The International Chapter of Red Men existed in NG from 1910 until it disbanded in 1999. The exhibit features colorful regalia and ceremonial objects. The exhibit can be viewed any time the Meeting House is open for public business.

Betty Rines plays "My Favorite Things" at The University of Southern Maine's 2001-2002 Faculty Concert Series. The series wraps up its season with Betty Rines, playing her favorite works for the trumpet. She will be accompanied by pianist Judith Quimby. The concert will take place at 8 p.m. Friday, April 19, in Corthell Concert Hall on the USM Gorham campus. For tickets call 780-5555. $10 general admission, $7 seniors, and $5 students. The program is sponsored by Tucker Anthony.

Nature Book Discussion Group: "Tapir’s Morning Bath" by Elizabeth Royte, Monday, April 8, 7 p.m., at Maine Audubon Gilsland Farm, 20 Gilsland farm Rd, Falmouth. Free. Call 781-2330 FMI.

Travelers’ Club: Biking the Pacific Northwest, Jeff Miller will show slides of a bike tour of the Pacific Northwest, starting from Seattle and ending in Calgary, with the most circuitous and scenic route possible in between.
