Letters to the Editor
To the Editor:
Sincere thanks for the detailed article on my 50th Anniversary of Ordination. It will serve as a first step in my upcoming jubilee.
I admire Chuck Mahaleris for gathering all my detached thoughts into this cohesive article.

To the Editor:
On February 20th The Monument featured an awareness article I had writtenabout an actual incident where a child at Russell Elementary was victimized by an adult employee of the school. This was previously brought before both the principal and the superintendent on different occasions, and unfortunately it was not an isolated event. It is sad that many times the cry of a child is never heard or taken seriously.
It's even sadder that they get brick walled by ignorance such as that displayed by the pretentious individual who replied to my article singing praises to all lunch staff of the world, making them out to be matronly saints. You would think he/she personally knew each and every one of them. Let me assure you, stereotyping is not becoming and you are no one to shame me for being " so stingy over $3.00.
You completely missed the point of the article. Money was not the issue. I suggest you get out of your bubble. Injustice, abuse, and unfair treatment happen everywhere - in the workplace, churches, and even in the schools...and Gray is no exception. I like this town, the people, and even the schools; however, even the best looking bushel of apples may have a worm or two in it. I thank all of those who have personally called me (especially last weeks caller) in support of an issue that perhaps needs to be addressed by the School Board when their plate is not so full. Oh yes, I almost forgot, as for the nutrition that our children are provided, I ask, "What the heck is Hobo Soup?"
