The Board of Appeals for the Town of Gray will meet on October 21, 2004 at Stimson Hall at 7:00 p.m. to act on the following variance requests, in accordance with the Town of Gray Zoning Ordinance as adopted and as amended to October 5, 1999:

New Business Variance Requests

Donna and Leonard G. Brown, Sr. 357 Windham Center Road, Windham, Maine, property located at 4 Carr Road, Gray, Maine, Map L06, Lot 006, requests a variance (1) to reduce the front setback to 22 feet, (2) reduce rear setback to 42 feet, (3) reduce side setbacks to 15 feet and 9 feet, and (4) increase impervious surface coverage to 21% for the purpose of reconstructing and expanding existing cottage for year round use.

Robert & Kathryn Favre, 128 Guinea Road, Biddeford, Maine, is applicant, property located at 18 Latimer Road, Gray, Maine, Map L02, Lot 5 (Property is owned by Kevin Butterfield) Mr. & Mrs. Favre request a variance (1) to reduce front and rear setbacks to 10 feet on lot across the road for the purpose of building a garage, (2) to reduce the side setback of the house lot to 6' for the expansion of a deck (bringing the existing deck even with the edge of the house), (3) to increase the impervious surface to 28%.

Interior and Exterior Painting
Gray Public Library

The Town of Gray is requesting proposals for the painting of the interior and exterior of the Town's Public Library on Hancock Street. A vendor may bid on either or both jobs. The successful vendor(s) shall provide all labor and materials to complete the job. Proposals must be in a sealed envelope marked "Gray Library Painting" and state whether it is for either interior or exterior or both. All proposals must be received by the Office of the Town Manager, 6 Shaker Road Gray, Maine, 04039.

All proposals including fax proposals must be received no later than October 29, 2004 at 11:30 AM. (657-2852) The Town of Gray reserves the right to reject any and all proposals not deemed to be in the best interest of the Town.

Register to vote at your library

In cooperation with the Town of Gray, you may register to vote at the Gray Public Library during any of its hours of operation. All you need is a valid Maine driver's license with your Gray address on it or a bill addressed to you at your Gray address. The library will return the cards to the Town Office.

Library hours are: Tuesday 10-8, Wednesday 10-8, Thursday 10-6, Friday 10-5, and Saturday 10-3.

Election Day: Tuesday, November 2, 2004
Polling Place: Amvets Hall, Upper Gloucester, Rte. 100

Hours Open: 8:00 AM to 8:00PM

VOTING ON ELECTION DAY:
· You can register to vote until, and including, Election Day.
· If you'd like to register in advance, the town office is located at 385 Intervale Road, tel.: 926-4126.

· Questions may be answered there, or by contacting the Maine State Elections Division, 101 State House Station, Augusta, ME 04333, tel: (207)624-7650. E-mail: CEC.Elections@maine.gov.

VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT:

· Any registered voter may cast an absentee ballot instead of voting in person at the polling place on Election Day.
· You don't need to have a specific reason or be unable to vote at the polls on Election day to receive an absentee ballot.
· Pick up an application for an absentee ballot at the town office, or contact the Elections Division (left).
· Absentee ballots must be requested beginning 3 months before Election Day.
