It's going to be a very merry Christmas for The Public
Theatre!
Ten years ago, a group of six actors and a fiddler
sat onstage at The Public Theatre for the first read
through of Christopher Schari's original adaptation
of A Christmas Carol. This year, Tony Award winning
director Jack Hofsiss and a prestigious cast of actors
met in a in mid-town Manhattan studio and rehearsed
Mr. Schario's adaptation for its run at the famous
Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor, NY. This is Bay
Street Theatre's second season performing Mr. Schario's
beloved adaptation, and what is currently a Christmas
tradition in Lewiston, seems to have become a tradition
in New York as well.
Returning as the fiddler is internationally acclaimed
musician, folksinger and storyteller, Jennifer Armstrong.
Jennifer brings her own special magic to A Christmas
Carol and provides a glorious second act to the evening
when she performs her production of A Celtic Christmas.
A wonderful mix of music and stories, Jennifer accompanies
herself on the fiddle, guitar, banjo, bagpipes and
more as she spins her Celtic magic. TPT's technical
director, Adam Klein, will design the lighting in
both productions.
A Christmas Carol and Celtic Christmas will be performed
on Friday, Dec 10th at 7 pm, Saturday, Dec 11th at
7 pm, and Sunday Dec 12th at 1 pm and 4 pm. With a
top ticket price of $16 for adults, $14 for seniors
and students and $11 for children under twelve, The
Public Theatre, Lewiston/Auburn's Professional Theatre
Company, is pleased to be offering affordable family
entertainment for the holidays. For tickets call the
Box Office at 782-3200.
