SAD 15 Concert: The Annual GNG Middle School Spring Band Concert is scheduled for Tuesday, April 13 in the gym beginning at 7 p.m. featured performing groups include the grade six band, seventh/eighth grade concert band, and the seventh/eighth grade jazz band. Should weather force a cancellation, the event will be held on Thursday, April 15. Donations for marching band shirts will be welcomed at the door.

A Cappella: "Four Shadow, A Cappella with Infectious Energy" Four Shadow uses no drum machines, synthesizers, sampling or pre-recorded material. Every sound, be it singing, percussion, guitar riffs or thumping bass, is produced live from the mouths of these young men.

This Minnesota-based group has shared the stage with Huey Lewis, the Persuasions, Rockapella and performed live on NBC's "Today" show. For more info about Four Shadow, check their website at www.fourshadow.com. Performance on Thursday, April 15 at 7:30 pm at the Ramada Inn and Convention Center, 490 Pleasant Street, Lewiston. Tix, $18 ($15 for kids, full-time students and seniors 60+) -- $2 more at the door. Reserve a table for the show, seats up to 12 for $180. Group rates and sponsor discounts are also available. Edward Little and Lewiston High School students can reserve their ticket for free with ArtsPass (limited availability). USM Concerts: End of Semester Events at the USM School of Music; All events take place in Corthell Concert Hall on the USM Gorham campus. Tickets are $5 for the general public and $3 for students and seniors. For tickets and more information please call the Music Box Office at 780-5555.

Monday, April 26th, 7:30 p.m., approximately ten students will perform "An Aria Night," as part of Opera Workshop, directed by Ellen Chickering.

Thursday, April 29th, 7:30 p.m., the USM Chamber Singers, directed by Robert Russell, will perform a program entitled, "In Endless Song." The songs are varied - sacred and secular, popular and more esoteric.

Saturday, May 1, 8 p.m., the Southern Maine Symphony Orchestra concert, conducted by Robert Lehmann, will feature the Biannual Concerto/Aria Competition winners. The main work on the program, Stravinsky's "Firebird Suite," will begin the evening. Next, the winners will take the stage: Daniel Hunter, tuba, of Westbrook will perform a "Concertino" by Koetsier; Nicole Rawding, flute, of Gorham will perform a "Concertino" by Chaminade; and Sarah Sturdivant, mezzo soprano, of Standish will perform two songs by Mahler. The evening will conclude with the world premiere performance of Portland/Windham composer and student, Donald Pride's, composition, "One Breath," which will be conducted by Nat Erde of Gray.

Sunday, May 2, 2 p.m., the USM Wind Ensemble, conducted by Doug Owens, and Percussion Ensemble, conducted by Peter Martin, will perform a wide variety of instrumental works.

Dance: Guest dancers featured in Dance USM! concerts
Special guest performers will appear each night during the annual "Dance USM!" concerts directed by Maria Tzianabos and presented by the University of Southern Maine Department of Theatre April 29 - May 2. Professional dancers Jill Eng, Lisa Hicks and company, Nancy Salmon and Carol Dilley will perform on different nights.

In addition, the concerts will feature guest choreographers plus student choreographers and dancers performing original, energetic pieces in a variety of styles. Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 29 through Saturday, May 1, and at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 2 in Russell Hall on the USM Gorham campus. Tickets are $10 for the general public, $7 for seniors, and $5 for students. Call the Theatre Box Office at 780-5151 for
reservations and more information.

Musical: "We're Holier than Thou!" from Nunsense is the rousing number these women will be performing in Broadway-LA from the Heart presented by Community Little Theatre and Central Maine Medical Center on April 24 and 25 at Lewiston Middle School, Central Ave. This joint fundraiser will benefit the theatre's Endowment Fund and the hospital's Cardiac Care Capital Campaign for Central Maine Vascular Institute.

The two hour event will feature tunes from Broadway musicals such as Evita, Cabaret, Phantom, Pal Joey, Anything Goes, My Fair Lady, Damn Yankees, and Chess. Tickets are $20. and may be reserved by calling 783-0958 or accessing the theatre's website at www.laclt.com
