Fun for all at Deertrees Cultural Arts Center
The middle of July brings "Old Home Days" to Harrison and Tim Sample, Fred Garbo, and the Italian Heritage Band to the historic Deertrees Theatre nestled in the hills above the "friendly village." It is the perfect opportunity to sample the community spirit of Harrison, entertain the kids with the midway attractions, and indulge in the many food booths at Crystal Lake Park before the theatre.

Tim Sample is the laureate of the gentle, folksy style of story telling known as "Maine humor." A regular contributor to CBS's "Sunday Morning" and co-host of Maine Public Television's "What's for Suppah?" Tim is a natural-born raconteur, fascinated by people and everything they do. Despite the tidal wave of electronic stories crashing over us via TV, radio, and the like, he continues to tell stories in his own way and these stories tell a great deal about us.

Tim will bring his Down-East humor to Deertrees on Thursday, July 15th. One of the most popular entertainers to appear at Deertrees, his previous shows have always sold out, it is advisable to book tickets early.

Transcending barriers of age and language, the Fred Garbo Inflatable Theatre is a theatrical world like no other. It's a theatrical world where performances begin with a ten-foot cylinder slithering onto the stage and imploding. Within moments the entire audience is playing catch with inflatable props! It's visual, it's full of life, it's pure fun and always shakes you with laughter.

The "balloon man meets the beautiful ballerina" is a show that you will be talking about all summer. The Fred Garbo show will be at Deertrees on Friday, July 16th.

Two old-fashioned band concerts, complete with big band sound, pop tunes, marches and patriotic favorites round up the week at Deertrees. Take in the Old Home Day's parade, stroll through the midway and then catch either the 4 pm or 8 pm performance by the Italian Heritage Band. With over 45 members, the band has gained a reputation for their crowd pleasing spirited concerts and the idyllic venue of Deertrees is the perfect place to hear them.

Tickets to all performances are available at the Cool Moose in Bridgton, Fare Share Co-Op in Norway, Books & Things in Bethel and at the Box Office. For reservations and further information please call Deertrees at 207-583-6747.
