Call for Actors:

Celeste Philippon, CLT Director, is calling for auditions for "Man of LaMancha" on Monday and Tuesday, August 23 and 24, at 7 pm at Great Falls Performing Arts Center, Academy St, Auburn. The production dates are October 15-30.

The auditioners will be required to sing a prepared song according to character. A pianist will be available. Cold readings of selected scenes from the play will occur for those interested in principal roles.

This musical version of Don Quixote is framed by an incident allegedly from the life of its original author, Miguel de Cervantes. In the 16th century, Miguel de Cervantes, poet, playwright, and part-time actor was arrested together with his manservant, by the Spanish Inquisition. They were accused of presenting an entertainment offensive to the Inquisition and were cast into a huge dungeon. The other prisoners gang up on Cervantes and his manservant and begin a mock trial, with the intention of stealing or burning his possessions. Cervantes desperately wishes to save a manuscript he carries with him, and stages, with costumes, makeup, and participation of other prisoners, an unusual defense-the story of Don Quixote de la Mancha.

Seven Muleteers will complete the cast: Jose, Tenorio, Paco, Juan, Anselmo, Pedro, & a Guitar player [various ages] Tenor-one of whom must be able to play guitar and sing onstage.
