Caught at the Crossroads

Both the Cumberland County Sheriffs and State police have a substation or barracks in Gray. These two were snapped on Friday, May 7 at the Department of Transportation lot. County taxes and state taxes pay for their patrols through the area.

The Town of Gray is proposing to the citizens through the Annual Town Meeting Warrant that they choose one agency to contract with for a 40-hourt per week patrol. This will be voted on at Town Meeting, June 5 starting at 10 a.m. at Stimson Hall.

It is nice to see the two agencies cooperating like this. Let's hope it lasts after the Town decides whether or not to ramp up their patrols with one agency or the other.
