Editorial

Thank you.

The New Gloucester Community Fair Committee and the Fairgrounds Committee worked hard to prepare for and to present the third Annual Community Fair. The Fair was held last Saturday at the Fairgrounds.

The Fair's motto is "Connecting People with Community," and the growth evident these three years in vendor and visitor attendance definitely shows the Committees' hard work and perseverance to the motto. A range of activities was available, a diversity of food choices, and a wealth of showcase opportunities for the non-profit organizations, churches, and other community organizations.

Plus, it was fun.

The trebuchet was a nice addition this year. For $2, you could pick a pumpkin, watch the men set the device, and yank the pin yourself to launch the pumpkin hundreds of feet in the air and toward a painted billboard depicting a scary dragon. Cool.

The Fair gave politicians a chance to get out and meet constituents, always a great thing to do this close to election day. Ultimately, the Fair gave people a day to wander around in a fun and safe environment and say howdy to each other. Connecting People With Community is not only a motto in New Gloucester, it's a way of life.

Above, Community Fair Committee member, prime motivator, organizer, and heart behind the community celebration, Scott Doyle. Here, Doyle takes a moment from his endless duties to thank everybody for coming. The Monument thanks all those that worked on and contributed to the Third Annual Community Day.
