Sleigh Rally at Skyline Farm
Skyline Farm has set their 2004 calendar and the community is invited to visit the farm in North Yarmouth during any one of the following events. Photo courtesy Skyline Farm.

First up is the annual Skyline Farm sleigh rally, Feb 7th, from 10 - 3. Come and watch drivers and their horses compete in several classes with their antique sleighs, visit the carriage museum or take a horse drawn ride around the property. For more information call the farm at 829-9908.

Later, in June, there will be a benefit horse show. Then on July 17th comes the 2nd Annual Carriage and Sleigh Auction followed a week later by Skyline Farm's carriage schooling show, a great chance for local drivers to brush up on their skills. August brings the lobster bake and concert, and in October, Maine Carriage Days and Pumpkinfest. It will be a fun and fruitful season. All are welcome!

Skyline Farm is a nonprofit organization working to transform Skyline Farm into a community resource as a living carriage museum with an antique carriage & sleigh collection, while also preserving the farm's open space and historic buildings for recreational and educational use.

Helping Mainers Lighten The Load
Lighten ME! Maine's statewide team weight loss competition reaches goal of 100 teams.

The Maine Games, our state's own Olympic-style sports festival, has reached its first-year goal of one hundred teams statewide for a new healthy living initiative called Lighten ME!. Lighten ME! is a statewide team weight loss competition. The program pits teams of between five and ten individuals against each other in a competition to determine Maine's biggest losers.
With team names like the Belly Busters, the Portly Crew, and the Megabutts, losing weight has suddenly become serious fun.

Teams are encouraged to not only change to a healthier diet, but also track their daily physical activity by counting steps with a pedometer.
While just beginning its second year of existence as a state games, the Maine Games has relied on dozens of other successful state games throughout America for ideas and inspiration. Lighten ME! is based on a very successful program begun by the Iowa Games in 2002. That year 140 teams of Iowans combined to lose over two and a half tons of fat.
People interested in learning more about Lighten ME! or registering their team can do so by logging on to the website: www.lightenme.org. To learn more about the Maine Games, check their website: www.mainegames.org or call 284-2004.
