Wildlife Park
Left: Eagle, one of the many animals you can see
at the Park. Most animals are brought to the park
for re-habilitation back to the wild after experiencing
an injury or being orphaned.
On Saturday, June 12, members of REMAINE WILD will
help you with questions about injured or orphaned
wildlife. ReMaine Wild is Maine's state organization
of wildlife rehabilitators and other associated professionals.
Wildlife rehabilitation is the care of injured, ill
and orphaned wild animals with the ultimate goal to
release them back into their natural habitats with
the appropriate and necessary skills to survive. Wildlife
rehabilitators are required by law to obtain state
and federal permits to care for and assist wildlife.
Most people do not know it is against the law to possess
any wildlife without appropriate state and federal
permits.
Come and learn how you can help the wildlife you may
find as you travel the woods and waters of the state,
or even in your own backyard.

Acknowledgements
As the Commander of the American Legion, I was supposed
to read some acknowledgements for folks who helped
the families of the 133rd Engineer Battalion. I omitted
to do this at the ceremony so told the families that
I would ask your newspaper to consider running the
following:
The
families of the 133rd Engineer Battalion send out
a big thank-you to those who donated supplies and
their time at such short notice to make our Memorial
Day memorable. Those people were Gordon Leavitt for
his idea for a banner, John Teras for making the banner,
Gray True Value for the banner rod & paint stirrers
for the signs, and Deannie Rogers for her time on
Saturday helping put the signs together. And finally,
than you families of the 133rd for participating on
Memorial Day. A special thanks to Pfc Jonathan Wood,
home from Iraq, whose participation made this an Extra
Special Parade!
Thank
you,
Larry Newth
