Second Chance Yard Sale at the Coastal Humane Society. A benefit yard sale will be held on July 24 from 10am-3pm, rain or shine. Proceeds will benefit the animals at CHS and help us give them a "second chance," 30 Range Road, Brunswick. 725-5051.

2nd Annual Benefit Golf Tournament
, Monday, August 9, 2004 at the Brunswick Golf Club. Scramble Format, Shotgun Start. Donation includes golf cart, goody bag, catered lunch and great prizes for 1st and 2nd place items and closest to the pin. Great fun for a good cause! Call 725-5051 for details or to register.

Meals on Wheels: Meals on Wheels is a service provided by Southern Maine's Agency on Aging, North Windham site. This service is available to persons 60 years and over who find it challenging to cook a nutritious meal. The Windham Meals on Wheels serves seniors in the Gray and New Gloucester areas, five days a week. A donation of $2.50 per meal is requested. For information on this valuable resource, please call Virginia at 892-3891 or the Nutrition Department at 1-800-400-6325.

Lunch at Windham Senior Center
: The Windham Senior Center offers lunch in their Dining Center on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for seniors age 60 and over, from Windham, Gray, and New Gloucester. Lunch is served at 12:00 pm. Reservations are needed 48 hours in advance. Come as early as 10:00 am and play a game before lunch, (Bingo on Mon or Wed, Cribbage on Fri). Donation of $2.75 per meal is requested. There is a theme party on the first Wednesday of every month; come enjoy the surprises. The Center is located in the Aikin Annex at 8 School Road in Windham. Crystal Lake Association To Hold Annual Meeting
The Crystal Lake Association will hold their annual meeting on Wednesday, July 28th at St Gregory's at 7pm. You may come at 6:30 to pay dues, look over the handouts, purchase T-shirts, enjoy some refreshments, or just get to know your neighbors. Our guest speaker, Betty Williams of the Cumberland County Soil and Water Conservation Service, will present the Watershed survey. Your copy of the Watershed Survey will be available that night. If your property was cited for improvement you can find out about available resources.

We will also hold our election of officers and representatives for areas 3,4 and 5. Please come with some nominations. We will also have a sigh-up sheet for discounted septic tank pumping.

Discounted Septic Tank Pumping
For Crystal Lake Association Members
The Crystal Lake Assoc. will be offering discounted septic tank pumping to their members in mid August this year. The price is based on the number of members participating. If we have 15 members sign up the price will $175 or if we have more participants the price will be lower. It is recommended that tanks be pumped about every three years. If your tank needs to be pumped and you are a member of the CLA and you would like to participate please call Cheryl Welch at 657-4054 or E-mail at jwelch2@maine.rr.com. You may also sign up at the annual meeting of the Crystal Lake Association to be held Wednesday the 28th of July at 7PM at St. Gregory's.

Wild Creature Night Walk: at Maine Wildlife Park Route 26, Gray: Saturday July 31st will be the evening for 'Creatures Of The Night' Night Hike, from 8:00pm to 10:00pm under the light of the full moon. The Wildlife Park will open to the public for a 'night walk' so visitors can view our wildlife at night. We recommend that you bring your own flashlights, and we will cover them with red cellophane to improve your night vision. Volunteer guides will be stationed at several wildlife exhibits to talk a bit about the animals' nightlife. The Nature Store and Snack Shack will be open to accommodate our visitors. The wildlife park is a wonderfully safe place to experience the out of doors at night. The regular admission fee will be charged for this special night visit. This special program will be cancelled if it is raining.

Pond becomes CSCS-certified

Gray Physical Therapy Center is proud to announce that Erica S. Pond, PT, CSCS of Naples, ME has become certified as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association Certification Commission. The CSCS certification is designed for professionals who develop and implement strength training and conditioning programs for active individuals as well as athletes.

To earn the CSCS credential, Erica passed a written exam that is prepared by experts in strength training and conditioning. By passing the CSCS exam, Erica is certified as holding the first nationally accredited strength training and conditioning credential. Local Teen To Meet With National Leaders In Washington, D.C.

National Young Leaders Conference Provides Inroads for U.S. Future
Mr. Wil Kramlich of Gray, a member of the Gray-New Gloucester High School Class of 2006, has been selected to participate in the National Young Leaders Conference (NYLC) in Washington, D.C., Monday, July 19 to Thursday, July 29, 2004. NYLC is a unique leadership development program for high school students who have demonstrated leadership potential and scholastic merit. Kramlich will be one of approximately 350 outstanding scholars from around the country at the Conference.

To complement the schedule of special meetings and briefings, Kramlich will also participate in a number of leadership skill-building activities and simulations. In one role-play activity titled If I Were President, students act as the president and cabinet members responding to an international crisis. Students also participate in Testing the Constitution, in which they examine actual Supreme Court cases. The Conference culminates with the Model Congress, in which scholars assume the roles of U.S. Representatives, and debate, amend and vote on proposed mock legislation.

New Gloucester Strawberry Festival proves another winner: The 29th Annual New Gloucester Strawberry Festival has come and gone! Thank you to all who helped make it a success including volunteers, benefactors and attendees. Special thanks from the Historical Society to the Hodgman family, the Congo Church, Sue Vieira, Nancy Wilcox, The Berry Berry Good Band, and Beverly Cadigan and Digger Jones, co-chairs. The Society deeply appreciates all who helped in the nearly twenty parts of the festival. The Society's president is personally grateful to Avis Ford for some of the best biscuits he has ever tasted.
