To
the Editor:
I can't decide what astounded me more as I read Sound
Off today : the notion that "...MSAD 15 cancelled
school for no good reason" on 3/17, or the fact
that you printed it.
Maybe the writer lives in a tropical part of Gray
or New Gloucester, or perhaps a protective bubble,
but South of Town on that morning the roads were dangerously
slick. I'm sure the Fire/Rescue personnel on the scene
of the Route 100 fatal accident that morning would
agree.
But the writer got at least one thing right, to be
sure. SAD 15 has indeed enjoyed a great safety and
performance record. I'll venture a wild guess that
one reason that's the case is that SAD 15 officials
have the good sense to call off school when the roads
are not safe, like the morning of 3/17 for example.
To Ms Burns: if this means that my kids will have
to go to school one extra day this coming June, then
I'm grateful to you that they'll be around to do it.
Many thanks,
Maurice Fecteau, Gray
