Letters to the Editor

To the Editor,

For several weeks now, the Sound Off column of this newspaper has contained numerous articles expressing disparaging and hurtful comments against individuals within our communities. Many of these comments are not based in fact but rather negative emotions.

Many of these community members spend long hours working on improving the condition of our towns and schools. They work all day and then attend meetings in the evenings. They meet with townspeople to answer questions or simply listen to complaints or suggestions.

We are lucky to have all of them! We may not agree with all of their decisions or they opinions. But they try their best to make the right decisions that will have the most positive impact on the majority of our communities.

I would like to suggest to those individuals who have all this time to voice their negative emotions to Sound Off that they try converting this negative energy to something positive - attend a meeting, volunteer on a town or school committee, spend some time in our schools.

Just think of the great things we could accomplish with all of this newfound positive energy if we all set our minds to it!! Thank you.

Not embarrassed to sign my name,
Sandy MacDonald, Gray
