To
the Editor,
Some people think that the truth is whatever they
want it to be without regard for any facts. The facts
are that George W. Bush and the Republicans did not
"steal" the 2000 Presidential election.
The facts are that it was the Democrats who made a
furious effort to try to steal the election for Al
Gore. The facts are that it was the Democrats who
tried to change the rules for the election after the
ballots had already been cast. The facts are that
it was the Democrats who mounted a phony campaign
of "Count all the ballots" and then a wealthy
Democrat spent a large amount of money from his own
personal fortune to try to get the Florida court to
invalidate legitimate absentee ballots from people
who were serving in the armed forces overseas because
those legitimate ballots were thought to be favorable
to George W. Bush.
The facts are that the great furor over counting ballots
was in heavily Democratic Counties where the elections
were entirely under the control of officials who were
all Democrats. The facts are that the infamous "butterfly
ballots" were created under the control of officials
who were all Democrats and those ballots were approved
for use by officials who were all Democrats.
The Supreme Court of the United States did not "appoint"
George W. Bush to be President. The Supreme Court
simply applied the existing laws of the most magnificent
Nation the World has ever known.
It was the Democrats of the Florida Supreme Court
who tried to steal the election for Al Gore by changing
the election rules after the election. The United
States Supreme Court very properly did not allow the
Florida Supreme Court to get away with its attempted
illegal action.
