Council Candidates to answer 12 questions
Seven candiates line up for vacant seat

Gray--The Gray Town Council Chair Pam Wilkinson and Manager Mitch Berkowitz developed a dozen questions for the seven candidates to answer in what they call "Phase 2" of the appointee process to fill a vacant seat on the Council. The seat became available when Richard Barter stepped down on October 5. The seat will be filled by an appointee until the next municipal election in June, when the successful appointee, or a challenger, may run for election for the remmaining one year of Barter's term. Phase 1 included an interview at the Council meeting on the 19th of October. There were four candidates there, Richard Hall, Alison Brown, Andy Upham, and Denise Duda, who answered the Council's questions in a short interview. Mark Sanborn, Wade Trudel, and Michael MacDonald will be given another chace to answer some questions on the spot at the November 9th meeting.

Candidate Questions, "By Pam and Mitch":

1. Describe your experience working in a team or committee environment, and/or within the public sector environment; especially as it relates to your personal working style.

2. What do you see the role of both the Manager and a Town Councilor to be?

3. In your opinion, what are the top three issues facing the Town of Gray in the next year?

4. If you could leave a legacy of accomplishments from a term on the Council, what would that be?

5. The Comprehensive Plan is a guideline document completed two years ago. Now the implementation process is evolving, how would you handle an issue the represents the strategies defined within the document but is contrary to your beliefs?

6. What is your vision for the Town of Gray in five and ten years? Please comment on where do you see the Town going, what is your vision of its direction? And how do you plan to implement your vision?

7. What do you see as the greatest opportunities for Gray now?

8. If the tax cap is approved and assuming cooperation from SAD 15, do you believe that : The Town Council can make the necessary adjustments without critically impacting essential services and, would you have the will and confidence to participate in and affact such adjustments?

9. What do you believe are the greatest threats that might prevent Gray from becoming what you have envisioned? And why do you believe those are threats?

10. How would you respond to the following statement:
