Gray Community Pharmacy purchased by Rite Aid Corporation
By Brian Herschenhorn

Gray--As many of you know now, the owners and investors of the small Community Pharmacy chain have put some of their stores up for sale, and Rite Aid Corporation responded and decided to buy the Community Pharmacy of Gray. The Community Pharmacy will close their doors on December 1st, and the prescription files and medications will be merged with Rite Aid of Gray across the street on Routes 100/26, with grand opening on Thursday, December 2nd. All of the staff at Community Pharmacy have been offered positions at Rite Aid, both pharmacy department and front end.

Pharmacist Ken Wagner, and two technicians, Dottie and Katherine, will join Rite Aid of Gray pharmacists Brian Herschenhorn and Peter Ogagan, as well as their pharmacy staff, with having double pharmacist coverage Mondays thru Fridays to keep operations running smoothly. The pharmacy hours of operations will remain the same, from Mondays - Fridays (8am-8pm), Saturdays (8am-6pm), and Sundays (9am-6pm), and open every day of the year except Christmas.

While the Community staff becomes acclimated to Rite Aid's new computer system, the pharmacy staff is asking for your patience during the transition period, with calling in your refill requests the day before you plan on picking them up if you can. You can call your prescription refills in at 657-2333, then press option 3 for the pharmacy department, and you can give us your Community Rx number, which will then be switched to a Rite Aid Rx number. After they have been filled at Rite Aid, you can use the 24 hour automated refill line for your refill convenience.

Rite Aid of Gray does have a drive thru for prescriptions only, with a drop off lane and a pick up lane for your convenience. Rite Aid encourages patients to come into the store to pick up their medications though, for more personal service.

The Rite Aid staff is very personable, and are very excited to meet and get to know the customers of Community Pharmacy. If you have any questions on anything at all, please feel free to give them a call at 657-2333 at extension 3.
