What does New Gloucester think of their Volunteers?

New Gloucester-- More than 100 volunteers and guests
attended the New Gloucester Volunteer Banquet on

Board of Selectmen Chairman Steve Libby said the
town appreciates the work of the many volunteers
who give service to the town in 22 groups. "Volunteers
are essential to the future of New Gloucester for
their tireless effort," he said.
Represented were the Board of Appeals, Budget Committee,
Cable TV Committee, Civil Defense, Elections, Planning
Board, Zoning Committee, health Officer, Recreation
and Recycling and Fire and Rescue workers. And,
represented were members of the Gazebo Committee,
Library Board of Trustees and Space Needs and Recycling.
Those honored shared an alcohol free social hour
before entering the large dining area where tables
were adorned with fresh flower arrangements and
candle lighted dining. Dancing was included with
a DJ on hand.
Guests went away with a Volunteer Survival Kit.
Included was a tea bag, because you're "; tea-riffic";
a Band-Aid, for all the aid you provide; Lifesavers,
that is what you are, a penny for you're valuable
to us.
Included was a mint - We're thankful for your commit-"mint"
to us; a tootsie roll- You plan an important "roll";
a paper clip, for keeping things together; a crayon
- you make our days bright; rubber band-always stay
flexible. And, an angel-because that's what you
are; a Happy Face, you cause us to smile. Voters
appropriated $6000 to conduct the event this year.
