Board of Selectmen Chairman Steve Libby said the town appreciates the work of the many volunteers who give service to the town in 22 groups. "Volunteers are essential to the future of New Gloucester for their tireless effort," he said.

Represented were the Board of Appeals, Budget Committee, Cable TV Committee, Civil Defense, Elections, Planning Board, Zoning Committee, health Officer, Recreation and Recycling and Fire and Rescue workers. And, represented were members of the Gazebo Committee, Library Board of Trustees and Space Needs and Recycling.

Those honored shared an alcohol free social hour before entering the large dining area where tables were adorned with fresh flower arrangements and candle lighted dining. Dancing was included with a DJ on hand.

Guests went away with a Volunteer Survival Kit. Included was a tea bag, because you're "; tea-riffic"; a Band-Aid, for all the aid you provide; Lifesavers, that is what you are, a penny for you're valuable to us.

Included was a mint - We're thankful for your commit-"mint" to us; a tootsie roll- You plan an important "roll"; a paper clip, for keeping things together; a crayon - you make our days bright; rubber band-always stay flexible. And, an angel-because that's what you are; a Happy Face, you cause us to smile. Voters appropriated $6000 to conduct the event this year.
