News Brief

New Gloucester--Work on the Bald Hill Road Bridge continues. So far the work that has been completed includes all utilities have been transferred onto new poles and are out of the way. Clearing has been completed, and signing and temporary erosion control measures are finished. The temporary bridge and detour is completed and traffic switched over onto one lane traffic with lights. Two cofferdams are installed and existing abutments are removed.

Upcoming schedule of work includes placing a seal on the abutment within 2 weeks, placing footing on two abutments within 4 weeks, and placing precast for May 5.

The Department of Transportation inspects bridges and rates their viability- the Bald Hill Road bridge had been placed on the critical list. It is being repaired, almost nearly reconstructed. The work is scheduled for completion by June. Craig Hurd is the MDOT Resident Engineer for the project and the project identification number is 10157.56.
