to upgrade Gray-New Gloucester High School

Gray--The State of Maine requires all School Departments
to create a 10-year Capital Asset Renewal plan and
submit it to the State. In order to complete the renewal
plan, the SAD 15 needed to learn the current condition
of their buildings. They hired the James W. Sewell
Company, an engineering firm, to evaluate all SAD
15 buildings in terms of condition and what work will
be required in order to keep them in good functioning
condition. Each facility, building, or asset is ranked
in terms of deficiencies and necessary improvements
on a priority scale.
The SAD 15 High School complex consists of four components:
*the original High School, 42,760 square feet, built
in 1962, with a replacement value of $3,963,852, and
reported to need $612,094 in repairs
*the addition, 60,875 square feet, built in 1976,
with a replacement value of $5,643,113, and reported
to need $553,719 in repairs
*the visual and performing arts building, 12,330 square
feet, built in 1972, with a replacement value of $1,142,991,
and reported to need $117,695 in repairs
*a small portable, 720 square feet, built in 1987,
with a replacement value of $52,344, and reported
to need $17,466 in repairs.
The five most costly upgrades/repairs identified in
the report are:
$102,190 to deal with poor stringers in the east gym

$101,870 for ceiling finishes (addition)
$81,558 for ventilation pipes in the west gym (addition)
$77,896 for exterior doors (addition)
$77,301 for modernizing bleachers in the east gym
