Book sale: The Friends of the New Gloucester
Library will be having a Cabin Fever Book and Bake
Sale on February 12 (Saturday) from 9-noon. In addition
to good food, on sale will be books, videos, games.

There's no better way to practice your Spanish than
over a good meal. Come join us for monthly Spanish-speaking
potluck suppers at Fiddlehead Center for the Arts.

Pineland Farms- Weekend Of Ski Activities
Dave February 12th and 13th for a weekend full of
great skiing at Pineland Farms. On Saturday, February
12th, Olympian and Master Skier Champion Leslie Krichko
returns to Pineland Farms for a half-day skate clinic
designed to prepare skiers for the Rangeley Loppet.
Clinic size limited to 25, and fee is $25. On February
13th, Pineland continues to celebrate the Valentine's
Holiday with the 2nd Annual Central Maine Heart &
Vascular Institute (CMHVI) Sweethearts 2x3 Km Relay.
Registration may be done in advance by contacting
Lori Munro at 688-4800 or at the Pineland Farms Visitors
Center on the day of the event.
Rangeley Loppet Primer registration will begin at
8:30 a.m. CMHVI Sweethearts 2x3 Relay registration
will begin at 9:00 a.m. Races start at 10:00 a.m.
The fee is $10 per team for the relay.

Foster Grandparent Volunteer Training
Week of March 14 - 18, 2005
PROP's Foster Grandparent Program has openings for
men and women 60 and over interested in becoming a
volunteer in York or Cumberland Counties. Foster Grandparents
help improve the lives of children with special needs
while having a great time and earning some extra money.
Typical assignments include helping children in school
with their assignments, reading with toddlers in child
development centers, and visiting families in their
homes to offer support.
Foster Grandparents who are income eligible may earn
tax-free income while volunteering twenty hours a
week in their community, sharing their knowledge and
skills. Foster Grandparents are also eligible for
paid vacations and sick leave, holidays, assistance
with meals and travel, an annual physical, pre-service
training, supervision and recognition.

Optimist Club: Sweets for the Sweet! The Gray-New
Gloucester Optimist Club would like to invite you
and your children to the Gray Public Library on February
5 for a special story time and yummy Valentine's craft
project. The Optimists will be there providing cookies
for the children to decorate, one for themselves and
one to brighten up someone else's day. As in years
past, the "extra" decorated cookies will
be delivered to residents at Gray Manor and Appletree
Village. Please join us at the library's story time
at 10:00 a.m., cookie decorating to follow.
Sleigh Rally! Skyline Farm's annual sleigh
rally, driving demonstration and competition is scheduled
for Saturday, February 12th from 12 - 3:30. Past year's
rallies have seen horses and drivers from as far away
as Vermont coming to play in the snow at Skyline Farm.
But the event isn't just for the drivers; it's open
to everyone. With the Museum open and refreshments
available it's a fun opportunity for all of us to
get out of the house on a winter's day. Come and get
a taste of what winter driving used to be like! Horse
drawn vehicle rides will also be available.

Four Chaplains Service: It is once again time
to celebrate the gift of their lives the four chaplains
gave to save troops on the U.S. troop ship Dorchester.
The family of The Gray American Legion Post #86; Legion,
Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion, cordially
invite you to attend the Four Chaplains Service at
our Post home. The time and place for the story to
be told is February 6, 10 p.m. upstairs at 15 Lewiston
Rd., Gray. It is not a lengthy story but a very moving
