Wedding Announcement

Diverio-Marqis- Anne Marie Diverio, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph James Diverio of Maywood, NJ, became the bride of Raymond Albert Marquis, son of Annonciade Marquis, Colebrook, NH and the late Albert Marquis. The double ring ceremony took place November 20, 2004 at Saint Joseph Church in Portland, ME with Reverend Robert Kennedy officiating. A reception followed at the Dunegrass in Old Orchard Beach.

Given by her father, the bride had Susan Diverio as maid of honor. Serving as bridesmaids were Jacquellyn and Abigail Diverio, nieces of the bride, John Marquis served as best man. Ushers were Richard Lovely and Bruce Owen, friend and brother-in-law. Bryan Williams was the ring bearer. The bride is a graduate of Montclair State University and received a master's degree from the University of Southern Maine. She is employed by Biddeford Adult Education as a Career Counselor/Trainer. Mr. Marquis is a self employed contractor in Portland. Following a wedding trip to the Mayan Riviera in Mexico, the newlyweds will reside in Gray, Maine.

AARP Driver Safety Program-
Walker Memorial Library will sponsor AARP Driver Safety Course, June 13 & 14 for drivers 50 Years of age and older will be presented at the Walker Memorial Library, 800 Main St., Westbrook, ME. on Monday, June 13, and Tuesday, June 14, 2005. Classes will be held from 1 p.m. on each of the two dates. Participants must attend both sessions to complete the course. "Help Whip Cancer" this May with the Pampered Chef

Gray, ME.-Recognizing that one in seven women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, The Pampered Chef has teamed with the American Cancer Society for the sixth year in a row to "Help Whip Cancer." According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer among women in the United States and is the second leading cause of cancer death in women.

From May 1-31, 2005, you can help raise funds by: 1). Purchasing any of the following special Help Whip Cancer products: Mimi Stainless Steel Whisk for 49.50, Microfiber Towel for $8.50, pink Can Strainer for $ 4.00 or a set of two Help Whip Clips for $5.00. The Society will receive $1.00 for each product purchased. 2) Hosting a Help Whip Cancer Pampered Chef Kitchen Show Fund-raiser. The Anacin Cancer Society will receive a percentage of total sales raised at this in-home cooking demonstration. Hosts of Pampered Chef Kitchen Shows held in May also can purchase a special pink Family-Size Quick-Stir Pitcher for $6.50 or Quick-Stir Pitcher for $5.25 For each pitcher purchased, the Society will received $1.00.

Amvets to Install

The Amvets, Amvets Aux. And sons of Amvets will hold their installations of officers on May 28th. There will be a social hour at 5:00pm. A supper at 6pm and installation at 7 p.m.. A social will follow. This is also their awards night. All members are urged to attend. We also cordially invite all veterans who may be interested in joining Amvets to attend. Reservations would be appreciated by calling 926-4402 or the Amvet Hall at 926-4485 and leave a message on the answering machine.

Annual Memorial Day Parade

The annual Memorial Day Parade sponsored by Amvets Post # 6 will be held on Monday May 30th. The parade will form at 8:30 a.m. and leave the Amvet Hall at 9 a.m. It will come down Rt.100, through the upper village and stop at the Monument to lay a wreath. It will then proceed across Rt. 100 to Rt. 231 on to the Memorial School where a service will be held after the service, light refreshments will be served to those in the parade at the Amvet Hall. Any group wishing to take part are asked to contact Wally Bragdon at 926.4402 or Bill Greene at 998-5455

Kids' Bicycle Decorating for Memorial Day Parade

Kids, grab your bikes, helmets, and your parents and head over to the Russell School parking lot at 10 a.m. on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30 for some free-wheeling fun! The Gray - New Gloucester Optimist & Octagon Clubs will be there providing supplies to decorate your bike in a Patriotic red, white, and blue theme (or you may bring your own), and participants can then ride along in the Memorial Day parade (parade begins at 11 a.m.) For the safety of all, helmets and parents are required. Homes for Hope tour

The Maine Parkinson Society will be holding the third annual "Homes for Hope" house tour on Saturday, June 4, 2005 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Six houses located in the greater Falmouth area will be open for viewing between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tickets will be in the form of a booklet which will contain a picture of each house, a description of the property, and a map showing its location. People may visit the homes in the order of their choice, with an optional lunch stop. The feature house will be the historic Whipple Farm on the campus of OceanView retirement community. Tickets are $15 each and available at the following Falmouth locations:

Annual Plant Sale at Wildlife Park

From Saturday May 28th through Monday May 30th, the Friends of the Maine Wildlife Park will be holding their Annual Plant Sale during regular park business hours. The park is open daily through November 11th from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; visitors must leave the premises by 6 p.m. Admission to the park is free for ages 3 and under; $3.25 ages 5-12; $5 for adults, and $4 for seniors. Groups of 15 or more are $2.50 per person. Bring a picnic and spend the day! Family and Community Season Passes are available. Shaker Museum to open

The Sabbathday Lake Museum, Route 26, New Gloucester, ME opens on Friday, May 27th for the 2005 season. The Museum will be open Monday through Saturday, 10 am - 4:30 pm (closed Sundays) through Columbus Day. The Shaker Museum is part of the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village, an active community of Shakers. New this year are Family Workshops in addition to tours, gift shop and book shop, Nature Walks, Apple Saturdays, craft demonstrations and workshops. Special exhibit for 2005: "Built According to His Mind: The Works of Br. Hewitt Chandler." For more information call (207) 926-4597.

Vets wanted for Memorial Day Parade

An Invitation to all returning Service men and women. New Gloucester AMVETS Post #6 invites all returning service men and women to lead the annual Memorial Day Parade. For those who cannot march, transportation will be available. Please contact the Post at P.O. Box 301 or call Bill Kiley at 926-4232 or Bill Greene at 998-5455 if you are willing to take part. The parade will be held on May 30th and will form at the AMVET Hall at 8:30 a.m. Any other group or organization wishing to take part are also invited.
