Letter
to the Editor:
Our
ad for glasses three weeks running was a nice surprise.
Thanks for doing that.
We picked up 20 pair at the Christmas party (18 more
than usual) and 80 more at the drop off locations.
We even got a call from the Gray Marketplace to empty
the box because it was full. Our intake had dropped
to a mere trickle before the ads so its a sure thing
that the message got out.
Thanks again and have a happy and prosperous new year
..

To the Editor:
I
was very disappointed to see the January 6th Monument
publish the section about Bill Waterman in "Sound
Off". I am strongly opinionated myself, but I
have guts enough to sign whatever I write.
There
was a place in New Gloucester named Waterman Farms.
It's where Bill grew up and gained his great work
ethic. I can think of no better person to name the
Public Works Building after. Bill monitored and treated
all the roads in New Gloucester. His only time clock
was to be where he was needed where he was needed.
Bill's co-workers respected him and they worked together
and got the job done.
Bill
spent one month short of 29 years making the roads
safer and better for all of us. In the course of my
farming operations, I was traveling the Town Farm
Road, Morse Road and Merrill-Megquire Roads while
they were being rebuilt. Bill was always there checking
every load of gravel and the grade. I wonder how many
hours Bill was out in storms all night so traveling
was safer for all of us.
I
think New Gloucester was very fortunate to have such
a dedicated employee. I am a regular at Cole's and
I do not remember ever seeing Bill there. As for the
person who wrote the anonymous "Sound Off",
an appropriate building that would carry your name
would be an outhouse.
Sincerely,
Mike Wilson, Gray
