"Believe in ME…Maine"
Rep. Sue W. Austin

While representing portions Gray, No.Yarmouth & Pownal and serving on the Business Research and Economic Development Committee I gain and gather "good news" just for YOU! The SECOND Special- Session is over and the Legislature is not in session at the present time but there is still plenty of information coming across my desk.

Vote on Tuesday, November 8th, 2005

Information about registering to vote and the absentee voting process is available online (www.maine.gov/sos), through e-mail (SOSOffice @maine.gov) or by calling the Elections Division. Eligible Maine residents may register to vote until and including Election Day. During the final 20 days prior to the November 8th election, registration must be completed in person before the municipal registrar of voters.

In order to increase access to information regarding government and the election process, the Secretary of State's office created Maine's eDemocracy website. It provides resources for citizens and may be especially useful for students, educators and new residents of Maine. It can be accessed by visiting www.Maine.gov

There are seven questions on Maine's statewide ballot including 5 Bond issues and a variety of local issues being decided in our towns. Voters have many reasons to take an active part because each person and every town in our district will be affected in some way by the results of Tuesday's election...

In the last 34 years the question on the ballot to receive the highest % turnout of the voting age population was Casino in 2003 with 50.92%. The next highest was Maine Yankee in 1987 with 44.55%.The next was Limit Human Rights in 1995 with 44.02%. The next was Abortion/Medical Marijuana in 1999 with 43.39% and Repeal Income Tax in 1971 with 42.21.
Believing in Maine's fundamental core quality of life, Maine people have earned a strong national reputation for their commitment to democracy and the electoral process. I urge you to continue that reputation; becoming empowered by speaking your mind by casting your vote. Remember, because every single vote is counted, YOUR vote "COUNTS!!!!"

Ms. Austin represents District #109, Portions of Gray, North Yarmouth & Pownal
