On March 31, 2005, Governor Baldacci signed the state's biennial budget into law. Enclosed with the Commissioner's letter is a subsidy printout(Ed281). The state subsidy has increased from the projected $8,089,675 to $8,182,242. This is an increase of an additional $92.566.62; reported Superintendent Victoria Burns.

Mr. Towle, Director of Finance and Operations, has prepared a revised 05-06 school budget (Draft Revision 2) that reflected any unanticipated revenues or expenses that were not included in the Draft Revision 1 school budget. The Draft 2 budget can be used as the Board debates any additions or deletions of programs that will be reflected in the final budget approved by the Board on May 4, 2005. The Draft 2 Budget is available at Central Office.

GNG Destination Imagination needs you!

Congratulations and thanks to all of the students, parents, and coaches who participated in Destination Imagination again this year! This extra curricular creative problem-solving program is offered to students grades 4 - 12.

Once again have a team that has qualified to represent the state of Maine at the Global Tournament to be held May 25 - 29 in Knoxville, Tenn. This year's first place team is a "blended" team consisting of MS and HS students Ashley Giddigne, Jarrod Brown, Nick LaRochelle, Benjamin Miklovich, Devin Gilman, Sarah Hanley, & Caitlin Haines. This team's challenge titled Dizzy Derby consisted of creating a vehicle with a steering system, and technical power source for propulsion. In addition the team created an original skit that had their audience in stitches.

The team cost for this once in a lifetime opportunity is approximately $7000.00. We are down to the wire and working on raising the final $4000.00. Donations of any size are greatly appreciated and can be sent to Mr. Geoff Robbins, DI Advisor @ GNG HS 10 Libby Hill Road Gray, ME 04039. Your tax-deductible check should be made our to MSAD 15 Destination Imagination.

We are proud to represent the State of Maine, our community and schools. We hope the community will visit us at the Optimist Club Fishing Derby. The team will be dressed in costume and offering free face painting. Stop by and check out our vehicle!

The team has various fundraising activities planned, bottle drive, car wash (@ the Windham Wal-Mart on Mother?s Day), and a raffle where a lucky winner can win 12 live lobsters, and other prizes. FMI about DI or any of these activities please contact Lisa Haines @ 657-5370.
