What is the Gray Public Library Association's charge?
Mixed messages from its director:

When GPLA Director Ray Clark was asked at the May 17 Council meeting what the mission of the Gray Public Library Association is, he responded:

"The goal of the Association is to raise the money needed to refurbish Pennell."

Later in the same meeting, Denise Duda, then a resident and not yet on the Council, asked "what the expressed purpose of the GPLA is. Mr. Clark responded that the group is [sic] purpose is to support the library, to acquire property on their behalf, to raise funds for the construction of the library for purposes of education. Ms. Duda noted that if the Council proposes the assets are turned over to GPLA will the Association be then raising money for Pennell? Mr. Clark said no, but for educational purposes."
