The groundbreaking for the Bob Leighton Memorial Gazebo took place on a sunny Sunday and the numerous members of the extended Leighton family turned out for the ceremony at the New Gloucester Library lawn. The Gazebo Committee has held fundraisers to obtain enough money and in-kind donations to build the structure which will memorialize Mr. Leighton's memory for all his good works over the course of his life in New Gloucester.

Standing with golden shovel is Mr. Leighton's wife Beverly, and relaxing with the shovel after the ceremony is son Mark. Other members of the family socialize, or play on the tractor, while remembering Bob and his kindly soul and gentle contributions. Prata photos

Below: "I want this one!" Five year old Sullivan Stevens tries to pick a pumpkin equal to his weight. The family, including brother Griffin, were at Thompson's Orchard in New Gloucester Saturday. Griffin fund one that was better than Sullivan's, but before there was a brother brouhaha, Griffin suddenly stopped, sniffed, and announced, "I smell donuts!" and the two boys were off like a shot to sample the freshly made confections, with mom and dad close behind.
