Dog Day Afternoon

Sweet pea feted

Sweet Pea Designs, owned and operated by Laurie Ouellette of Lewiston, recently hosted a Special Open House for Sweet Pea, the teacup chiwauwau's 2nd Birthday Celebration. The day was filled with festivities, great food, friends, fun, discounts, and a wonderful birthday cake! Sweet Pea's guests included a special friend who brought a yummy doggie treat.

Fiddlehead Center for the Arts Recitals
Fiddlehead Center for the Arts held its semi-annual Music Recital at the First Congregational Church of New Gloucester on Saturday, December 10, 2006. The first recital, in 2002, showcased six students. This year, over 60 students participated in the Holiday Concert. The music program has expanded to include cello, fiddle, guitar, piano, violin and voice instruction. Parents, family and friends join us at these events, watching the student's skills grow with every session. Recitals allow students the opportunity to share new skills, gain confidence in front of a group, and celebrate each other's successes. With over 100 music students now enrolled, the Spring Recital will be divided into several concerts in May, with some of the students featured in the third annual International Art & Cultural Festival June 3rd.

Cheerful Optimists

Last Sunday the Gray-New Gloucester Optimists and G-NG High School Octagons gathered at the First Congregational Parish Hall in Gray to prepare gifts for giving to area families. Every year the Optimists help families by supplementing their gift giving to their children for Christmas and to spread hope. There was a wonderful spirit of fellowship as toys and staples alike were wrapped for delivery. The Optimists are positive folks who believe in positive action that bring about positive results to those around them. Their mission is children, and they are known internationally as "Friend of Youth". For those interested in this organization and its goals you may call Diane Field, President at #926-4764.

Scribbles Kids do their part
Scribbles Preschool in Gray students recently collected money and food for distribution in the community. Together they collected $156.00 that will be donated to the Russell School Student Assistance Team. They also collected non-perishables and personal care items for the Gray Food Pantry. This has been a tremendous learning opportunity for our children as they grow into responsible members of our community.
