Little Leaguers big champs

Season Ender
In marked contrast to the cold and rainy weather that
plagued most of ball season last Saturday was a
scorcher. Even so, a great crowd attended the Little
League awards ceremony on Saturday, June 25, at
Douglass Field, just behind the Russell School in
Gray.

Below, In his opening remarks President Bob Morency thanked
all the sponsors and volunteers who made it possible
for 289 kids in our communities to play Little League.
"We're all volunteers and we don't get paid for this"
he reminded all the parents and players.



Jean Southard was the lucky winner of the Sea Dog
tickets which were donated by Peter Martell. The
fundraiser will benefit the Little League.

Coaches presented the awards to their players and made
personal remarks to their teams. "We had the youngest
team " said minor league softball coach Marc Brown and
commended the girls on the hard work and progress
they made.

The Little League was officially organized in Gray in
1976. Next year the League will celebrate its 30th
anniversary.

A good crowd at the awards ceremony. Division player
breakdown: Teeball: 55; Boys Majors: 60; Boys Minors:
60; Girls Minors: 36; Girls Majors: 36; Boys Jr.: 14;
Boys Sr. 14; Girls Jr/Sr: 14.
