Effective immediately, no building permits will be issued from the Code office without first notifying dig safe at the following number 1-888-344-7233. When calling Digsafe be ready to give important information as follows: city/town, street/road, location description, extent and type of work, contact person and phone number and the excavator/company name and phone number. Must give Digsafe at least three business days - but no more than 30 calendar days before starting work. You may request a copy of the PUC's property owners fact sheet by calling puc 1-800-452-4699 or by visiting www.state.me.us/mpuc.

The Gray Planning Board will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m., January 12, 2006, upstairs in Stimson Hall on the site plan application of William and Linda Files, 36 Andrew Avenue, Gray, Maine for an accessory apartment at the same address. A copy of the application is on file in the Town Planner's office.

The Gray Cable TV Committee will be meeting Monday, January 9 at 6:30 p.m. downstairs in Stimson Hall. This meeting was postponed from the January 2 state holiday.

The Gray Town Office will close at noon on Friday, January 6th. The annual Town holiday celebration for its employees has been rescheduled for this date.

From November 15th to April 15th, between the hours of 12 midnight and 6 a.m., no vehicle shall be parked at any time on a public way, public street or within a town-owned parking lot, due to snow removal. Vehicles in violation of the ordinance (Section 502.3) will be towed at the owner's expense.

New Gloucester Notices

Notice

The New Gloucester Board of Selectmen will hold a workshop to discuss a proposed compensation plan for the Fire - Rescue Department at 7 p.m., Wednesday, January 11th at the Library meeting room. The public is invited.

Notice of Tri-Town meeting

On Wednesday, January 18th, in Room D at the Pineland Conference Center, from 6-8 p.m. there will be a meeting of officials from New Gloucester, North Yarmouth and Pownal and Cumberland County. Since this will be a meeting at which selectmen may do business, the public is hereby notified.

Arranged by and hosted by Cumberland County Manager and Commissioners, the public is invited to attend and share their input regarding Cumberland County governmment. And to discuss issues the towns think the County might be able to help them with.

Alfred L. Austin, District 3, represents the municipalities of: Baldwin, Bridgton, Brunswick, Casco, Freeport, Gray, Harpswell, Harrison, Naples, New Gloucester, Pownal, Raymond, Sebago, Windham, and Yarmouth. Cumberland County is headed by three Commissioners, each elected from one of the three districts within the County.

The Commissioners serve a four-year term being elected on staggered terms on each even numbered year, and one member is designated as Chairperson for one year. The County Manager oversees the functions of the county departments; Facilities, Executive, Registry of Deeds, Registry of Probate, Treasurer, Emergency Management Agency, Finance, District Attorney's and Sheriff's Offices.

The County is charged with the responsibility for operating and providing buildings and improvements necessary for county jails, courthouses, register of deeds, register of probate, register of insolvency and clerk of courts. The County is also responsible for county law enforcement administration through the County Sheriff's office. The County also operates the District Attorney's office, which prosecutes all civil and criminal proceedings within the jurisdiction of the County.
