If you qualify, please make sure you have it signed and back to the town assessor, by April 1, 2006. If you have homestead exemption already, you do not have to sign up again. Just a reminder that dogs must be licensed by January 2, 2006. The State of Maine requires dogs aged 6 months or older or within 10 days of ownership be licensed. Licenses are issued at the Town Office-a current rabies certificate is required for dog licenses. A late fee of $15.00 per dog will be assessed on February 1, 2006.

Help Wanted: Town Planner

The Town of New Gloucester, Maine, is seeking a highly motivated Town Planner to perform administrative and technical work for the town's planning department. New Gloucester is a growing community south of Lewiston-Auburn with a population of about 5,000.

The Town Planner develops comprehensive plans and land use ordinances, assists the Code Enforcement Officer, formulates and improves town plans, and serves as technical staff to the Planning Board, Zoning Committee, and others as directed. The Town Planner is supervised by the Town Manager.
A Bachelor's degree in land planning or a related field from an accredited college or university and three years' professional experience in the field of land planning, zoning, and development for a governmental entity or private enterprise are required. GIS experience is highly desirable. Salary DOQ, with a comprehensive benefit package.

SAD 15 News and Notices

Budget Advisory Committee Members Needed


The Finance Committee of the Board of Directors of MSAD #15 invites community members from the Towns of Gray and New Gloucester to apply to become members of the Budget Advisory Committee (BAC). The BAC's primary responsibility is to review the District's 2006-2007 annual budget requests and act as a resource for others seeking to understand the District's finances.

Applications are available at the Office of the Superintendent and must be completed and returned by January 25, 2006. The Finance Committee will review the applications and make recommendations to the Chairperson who will select 3 members and 2 alternates from each town in time for appointment at the Board meeting on February 1. Previous members who wish to be reconsidered only need to place their name with the Superintendent's Office.

Citizens willing to serve on the BAC must be able to attend the following meetings:

Meet with Finance Committee, Wednesday, February 8, 2005, 6:30 p.m. to review BAC responsibilities
Meet with School Board, Saturday, March 4, 2006, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Cost Center Managers to review 06-07 total budget requests
Meet with BAC and Finance, Wednesday, March 8, 2006, 7:30-9:00 p.m. Chair to review budget requests
Additional BAC meetings will be scheduled to prepare for the final BAC recommendations presented to the School Board on April 5, 2006.
