Historic Preservation of Churches

The New Gloucester, Maine, Historical Society and the First Congregational Church of New Gloucester are together presenting a public program on historic Maine church architecture. Earle G. Shettleworth, Jr., Director of the Maine Historic Preservation Commission, will deliver a slide presentation on "100 Years of Historic Preservation of Churches in Maine," which will be accompanied by remarks on the architecture of the New Gloucester's Congregational Meetinghouse, built in 1838-39 by Nathan Nutting, Jr., of Otisfield, Maine. This program, free and open to the public, will take place on Thursday, April 20, at 7 pm in the church's vestry, located at 19 Gloucester Hill Road, New Gloucester. Those present will have the opportunity to view the progress of restoration and repair of the sanctuary ceiling, currently underway. Rolling Friction & Sliding Friction, Lecture and exhibit

North Yarmouth Historical Society, Cumberland Historical Society and Skyline Farms will collaborate to present "Rolling Friction & Sliding Friction: A Look at Transportation of Bygone Days" on Thursday, April 20 at 7:00 PM at Skyline Farm, The Lane, North Yarmouth, presented by educator Gordon Corbett

Skyline Farm's collections include wonderful period sleighs, carts, wagons, carriages and coaches. What discoveries and inventions made them possible? What state of the art technology was employed in their construction and use? We'll take a look at one of mankind's most important inventions: the wheel and axle. This presentation will take us on a little trip through time. Join us for the journey and see some of the historic wheels of Skyline Farm. A fun and informative program with a great educator! Refreshments served; all invited.

Calling All Painters to Fiddlehead Center for a Arts Fresh Paint Event!

Artists that paint with oils, acrylics, watercolors or pastels are invited to participate in Fiddlehead Center for the Arts' Family Paint Out :A Fresh Paint Event and Auction fundraiser on May 20th.

The Fresh Paint Event celebrates local artists and the beauty of this area's natural environment. Artists are asked to create paintings within a six-hour period that are then auctioned off that evening, with proceeds benefiting FCA.
Painting will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Reception begins at 5 p.m. with a live music and gallery exhibition of all the artists' work. At 6:30 p.m., the "fresh paint' auction will begin, led by auctioneer Jim Cyr of Cyr Auction Company. Artists donate either a portion or all of their proceeds to Fiddlehead Center for the Arts.

St Dominic RHS Drama Society Presents "Our Town"

The Saint Dominic Regional High School Drama Society is proud to present their spring theatrical production of Thornton Wilder's "Our Town".
This show will take place at 7 p.m., May 12th and 13th at Saint Dominic Regional High School, 121 Gracelawn Road in Auburn. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. A Night at the Tony's - In Concert

Lewiston-Auburn's Community Little Theatre is proud to announce their spectacular spring fundraiser, 'A Night at the Tony's - In Concert'. Come and enjoy your favorite musical numbers from the list of Tony Award-winning musicals over the past five decades. Our talented cast will bring you all of your favorite tunes from the old standards to the most current Broadway smash hits. This promises to be an evening of pure enjoyment--a true song and dance extravanganza!

The event will take place April 22 and 23 at the Great Falls Performing Art Center, 30 Academy Street, Auburn. All proceeds will go to benefit CLT's Endowment Fund.??Tim Pinkham, current president of the board and well known performer and director, is directing the two hour variety show featuring magical Broadway tunes sung by veteran CLT performers.Paul G. Caron is music director. He has a long history with the theatre, and has musically directed many shows throughout the year.Our talented cast includes many of our veteran performers: Ron Bouffard, Renee Davis, Steve Dupont, Duane Glover, Doris Langlais, Michael Litchfield, Michelle Mahon, Eileen Messina, Mitchell Clyde Thomas, and Rhonda Trask.
