To
the Community:
To
all members of the Republican Party in Gray are invited
to the town Republican caucus coming up on February
12th at Stimson Hall. We need new members in order
to fill the positions that are to be elected at the
caucus. We cannot keep doing good things for the party
if everyone chooses not to attend. This is the year
we nominate Republicans to the committee (town).
In the past we have not had our quota of individuals
to attend the State Convention. It is my hope that
as many as possible come to the meeting. It's a great
way to meet the candidates that are running for office
and to express yourself the town committee members.
It helps to know what the citizens want their party
to do for them. This is also a way to express yourselves
to the leaders on how you want the party to go. Any
Republicans that are registered are able to attend
and cast their vote for the new leaders of the town
committee for the next two years and the people that
attend the State Convention. We must fill 17 delegate
seats and 17 alternates. The alternates will go the
Convention and need to have a check to cover the costs
of $25.00 as would the delegates if they attend.
It is my hope that more will attend this year as it
is critical for us to try for a majority in both houses
at the state level. Hope to see you all this Sunday
at 1 p.m.

Dear
Elizabeth,
I
was overwhelmed and so grateful to see the wonderful
article you did on the Windham Center Stage Theater's
upcoming children's production of The Wizard of Oz.
As an active member of the theater on and off the
stage, I am happy to see the dedication and hard work
of its members recognized and rewarded by the community
it seeks to serve. Thanks again for your continued
support.

To
the Editor:
The
Town Council prepares agendas for its meetings so
that we can discuss or act on items and issues in
an orderly fashion. To that end, we also have a general
parliamentary procedure outlined in our Council Rules,
including a reference to Roberts Rules of Order if
needed. Except for Executive Session, all Council
meetings are open to the public, which includes people
of all ages.
I have allowed a great deal of latitude with respect
to our parliamentary procedure, as a somewhat informal
atmosphere is more inviting to those citizens who
wish to participate in our meetings. However, we do
need to follow certain procedures to maintain order;
otherwise our meetings would become chaotic with little
or no business getting accomplished. We also need
to be mindful that people of all ages may be viewing
our meetings, and certain behavior is inappropriate
and unacceptable.
Though I encourage and welcome public participation,
we cannot tolerate disruptive or obscene behavior.
We have business to conduct and hostility and obscenity
waste valuable time and accomplish nothing. Feel free
to come to meetings to listen or offer information
and ideas, but please do so in a manner respectful
of others.
The vast majority of citizens who participate in Council
meetings conduct themselves with courtesy and respect,
but for those who need to be reminded, where our meetings
are broadcast to homes in Gray and New Gloucester,
and some of our broadcast technicians are high school
students, consider this family programming and please
conduct yourselves accordingly.
