Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:

I will be voting for Dick Walls for Town Council. He has great 'people skills' and is a successful team builder. Dick has had considerable experience in building and leading teams, not only in his career but also in his church, where he served on both the Finance Committee and the Building Committee. He has experience in financial management, and he supports a sound fiscal policy for our town government.

Dick is a very good listener, interested in hearing all points of view. He will be fair and balanced, consider all the information at hand, and not come in with a lot of preconceptions. One thing I particularly like is his promise to "focus on the issues and leave personalities behind."
Sounds like a good plan.
He has my vote.

Janet Neal, Gray

To the Editor:

Dick Walls is a candidate for Gray Town Council. I have known him for a number of years. He is a very conscientious and honest person. He is a man that studies the facts and carefully considers alternatives before committing to an action plan. Dick takes great joy in seeing others succeed and is willing to work hard and long to create a win -win outcome. Dick Walls will be a strong advocate for the citizens of Gray. He will get my vote and I encourage you to vote for Dick Walls for Gray Town Council.

Andy Upham, Gray

To the Editor:

I wanted to thank you most sincerely for this blog entry. [The Monument blog, www.monumentnews.blogspot.com, Sunday, May 14, 2006, "The two faces of Bill Dale"] This is a wonderful analysis.

As one of the founding members of the Kennebunk Taxpayers Association, I was disappointed (but not surprised) by Mr. Dale's findings on this issue in Kennebunk [on voting for the municipal budget through referendum ballot at the polls], and by our board's decision to deny the voters the right to make the choice for themselves.

It would seem that the Gray council cares more about the rights of the voters than they do about keeping control of the budget voting process, unlike the majority of the Kennebunk selectmen.

Thank you for posting this, and thank you for not being afraid to speak the truth.

Very truly yours,
Naran Row-Spaulding, Kennebunk
