District

Superintendent Victoria Burns announces two resignations: Betsey Cornwell, HS Special Education teacher in the Behavior Room, as of 12/23/05, and Heather Webb, MS Special ED Tech II, as of 12/23/05.

Memorial School

Principal Donna Beeley reports that the Holiday Fair held in December was successful, and thanks the volunteers who participated and DeeAnn Thompson for overseeing the event. The school is to receive the proceeds and it will be put toward new playground equipment.

About fifty children and their families enjoyed a child friendly version of "A Christmas Carol". The event was supported financially by the PTSA. Families contributed cans of food, which were delivered to the food pantry in New Gloucester at the Congregational Church.

The practice evacuation to the Masonic hall across the street on Rt. 100 went well, but Ms. Beeley reports that after discussions with the Fire Department and the Sheriff's Office, that she will request wooden barriers in order for the school to more effectively block Rt. 100 and 231 in case of a real event. She has been urged to seek an alternate route in case evacuations cannot be held in the intended direction. This would mean walking up Rt. 231 to the Library.

Dunn School

Principal Bruce Beasley reports that total population is 406, with grade 3, 135, Grade 4, 118, Grade 5, 153.

Mr. Beasley thanks the PTSA for their contribution of a holiday gift to all staff, it is appreciated.

The strings performance was cancelled due to weather but Fiddlehead Center for the Arts will re-schedule

Regarding the renovation, Mr. Beasley met with the architects and the blueprint proposal shows two classrooms, a staff rest room, and four smaller areas that can be used for therapy rooms or small meeting spaces.
