Commentary

Commentary: "Believe In Me… Maine"
Sue W. Austin, State Representative, District #109

While serving on Business Research and Economic Development I gain and gather "good news" to share with YOU! The 122nd Legislature went back into the Second (short) Session on Wednesday, January 4th, 2006.

By-Pass Update of the New Year 2006. Conrad Wenzel of the Maine Turnpike Authority informed me on the first day of Session that the By-Pass Project has gone out to bid for the bridge enhancement, one mile, $8.5 million piece of construction. I Believe that the bids are due back within a three week window of being advertised. Estimated time for ground breaking is early spring.

Thursday, January 5 was Infant Toddler Awareness Day at the Capitol. Gray resident and owner/operator of Discovery Place, Ms. Michelle Godbout-Clock was at the press conference sponsored by the Department of Human Services and received a playground set for her day care through a drawing. While attending the ceremony at the Hall of Flags, daughter Bailey also visited the House of Representative's Chambers with her father, David Clock. Caption below

Southern Maine Community College is expected to break ground this month for a new pier. The project is being made possible due to the leadership of Phil Grondin, Roger Mallar and Charles Gregory. The reconstruction will provide a modern marine education facility for students and community. It includes an outdoor classroom for education experience/ research, and will have the ability to accommodate historic vessels for public viewing. Reed & Reed of Woolwich, Maine has been awarded the project.
