Political Commentary

Dear Folks of Gray, North Yarmouth & Pownal,

I represent you in the Maine House of Representatives. I serve on the Business Research and Economic Development Committee and Leaves of Absence. I take great pride in utilizing every opportunity with committee work, bill testimony and floor debate to create a positive presence of our District!

Motivated by rough, rugged times that require difficult decisions, I have been blessed with reliable legislative partnerships as I've worked for you. With caring, committed, common sense I have reached out with a positive attitude to develop these relationships for productive results. The hallmark of a caring legislator is a focused listener. I listen carefully to debate in your State House and intently in your Home to your concerns and challenges.
Ernie, my husband of 36 years, is a retired CFO and is now a consultant.

Until becoming your representative, I worked for 10 years with Mardens, Inc. in Gray. We grew up in Gray and after college, Ern and I married and built our home. Our children, Brett, Braden, Blessing and Breanne were educated in Gray-New Gloucester Schools and have earned their degrees.
My responsibilities representing you cover such a broad spectrum.

There are no two days alike in the House of Representatives. Along with my peak interest in working the perplexities of the people's state business is my constant thirst to learn about our unique Maine. My position is "information intensive"; on issues, on revenue sources and on resources… all information to empower making decisive, difficult decisions for the people!

As I work on the BRED Committee and on the house floor Bills, each piece of legislation is central to you and your well being. Each vote is decided in that manner. I hold and embrace the principals of Home and FAMILY.

I endorse Local Control so decisions are made closest to the people they affect. I am running for a third term so that I may continue to support those fundamental principles. It has been a privilege to serve you in the 121st Legislature and the 122nd Legislature as witnessed by my 100% Session attendance.

I ask for YOU to "BELIEVE" in our shared principles and support me as you vote Tuesday, June 13th.

Sincerely,
Sue Austin
State Representative District 109
